
The last stretch was tough, with difficult terrain, lots of downed trees that limited mileage. I finally saw a black bear, but was not able to get a picture as it was a ways off and partially concealed by brush.



It was also some of the most scenic, though I’m almost too tired to care at this point. It might be worth coming back to hike when I’m in less of a hurry and better frame of mind.

You need to take your family to Lake Chelan and take the “slow boat” up to Stehekin. Its a great trip! I may know someone who has a cabin there. 😉

Stehekin and the bakery was one of my most favorite places on the PCT. And that section north to the border is where I truly learned to backpack in rain (and more rain and more rain….) Looking forward to your next post. It’s been a tough year to hike and you’ve stayed with it. Very impressive.
