Middle Washington is comparable to the Sierras, without the high elevation. Volcanic mountains have transitioned back to granite, meaning more impressive scenery, but also more difficult terrain. This week was a 145 mile stretch from Bridge of the Gods to White Pass over 6 days. After the first day the temperature dropped considerably with lots of condensation overnight. Cascade Locks
The trek from Shelter Cove Resort to McKenzie pass was uneventful. I was able to meet Dayle in Sisters, who drove me up past Warm Springs to where the 26 crosses the PCT to get around he fire closures.
