Kennedy Meadows

700 miles in, I’m sitting outside Kennedy Meadows General Store, planning logistics for the Sierras. Yesterday I picked up my bear canister, ice axe, spikes, and resupply package. Trouble is, I don’t know what kind of mileage I’ll be making given the extra weight, elevation, and additional climbing.

Legend, a PCT trail angel I met in Campo on day 1, is now up in KM, making spaghetti dinners and pancake breakfasts for hikers.

Breezy, Coulton, Legend, Stray Cat, T-Rex, HQtie, Turkey Baster

Today will be a shower, laundry, and mainly figuring out how to fit all my 5 and a half days of food in a 5 day canister.

Happy trails.

  1. In preparation for the Sierra, a quote from my favorite sign in Alaska found at the foot of the state’s most popular hiking trail reads: “if you see a grizzly bear, play dead. If you see a black bear, fight to the death”. Just a little inspiration 😉 Way to finish 700 miles!!
