After an 18 mile day yesterday, today was a shorter 11 mile hike to Scissors Crossing, where I picked up a ride to town from a trail angel.

I also ran into another trail friend this morning.

Fortunately, it was polite enough to warn us it was close by.
Lessons from the first week:
1. Check for anthills before dropping your gear (probably good advice in general).
2. However much water you’re carrying, it’s probably not enough.
3. Remember how filthy you got as a kid playing in the dirt? Somehow this is way worse.
My best friend from college will be joining me for the next five days. Next stop: Warner Springs.
Things that are awesome:
1. Guthook app – a full map of the trail with information on water supply, town resources, and gps positioning to see where exactly you’re on (or off) the trail. I haven’t met a single person on the trail who is not using it.

Glad you made it safe to Julian, unscathed by rattlesnake and ants 🐜
I’m sure Dave is thrilled you finally get a shower 😳😳
