First, a gear review. I picked up a set of bone conducting headphones (Aftershokz ). There’s always a tradeoff in situational awareness while listening to music on the trail, which usually results in nearly getting run over from behind by mountain bikers on the Boise foothill trails with annoying frequency. Remember, just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean that they’re not out to get you. Anyway, these sit in front of the ear, keeping the canal free. Between that and keeping the volume down, I’m now on to their little game of trying to murder me while my back is turned. Plus, there’s an estimated 63.6% improvement in rattlesnake awareness, so I’ve got that going for me as well.
I’m pretty much done with training at this point, as I’ve got my last set of hospital shifts, then just a few days to finish the ever increasing list of things to do before leaving. It is probably wise to let all the minor training aches and pains heal up before truly punishing myself. I’ve started checking the weather in Campo, which has not been terribly different than Boise. A little disappointing, as Boise in March has been alternative between sunny 60’s and winter.

Well since you mentioned it…there’s a few more things added to your “honey do list” before venturing off to play in the mountains.
